The gig-fx MegaWah
Hello, I’m a wah pedal addict. I don’t use it on everything but on some things you play it just enhances or emphasizes certain things you do on the guitar. I’ve used many different wah pedals over the years ranging from the classic crybaby to a Morley. Nothing prepared me for this thing.
The Mega-Wah is the first stereo wah pedal on the market and is actually six different wah pedals in a lightweight aluminum casing with a noiseless FET switch. There’s no doing the toe down or stomping on a switch to turn it on. Move the pedal towards the toe position to turn it on and back to the heal position to turn it off. You have a stereo input and a stereo output, a selection control (cry/mega/trig/auto), a rate control with a tempo indicator, volume/wah switch, a reverse wah switch, a gain control, a resonance control, and a sensitivity control.
Here is a description of some of the different settings.
• Classic Wah: Is a basic classic analog wah sound.
• Mega-Wah: This is my favorite setting. Take the basic analog wah and give it more bottom end, more highs and a wider sweep. This thing growls when using a hi-gain amp.
• Trig-Wah: You can jump back and touch yourself with this setting. Can’t get funkier than this. Set the sensitivity to where you can activate (trigger) the Mega-Wah by how hard you pick.
• Auto-Wah: My second favorite setting. Set the tempo using the “rate” and listen to the swells.
• Stereo-Wah: Plug this thing up to two amps and viola!!! Stereo wah……Nice!!!
• Stereo-Reverse-Wah: This is where this pedal gets interesting. Toe down will have one amp receiving the “high end” and the other amp will be getting the “low end” - the sweep pans across.
• Foot-volume control: Click this switch from “wah” to “volume” and now you’ve got a volume pedal that will add 3db of gain.
All in all this is a great wah pedal but it does come at a hefty price. I’m here to tell you it’s worth every penny. Check out the video review for more info and check out the Gig-Fx we site http://www.gig-fx.com
